Welcome to the 108th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade!
It promises to be another spectacular year for the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade as we celebrate our 108th year. Hailed by the New York Times as one of the Nation’s top ten holidays happenings, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade has also earned Newport Beach the rank of “#2 City in the Nation for Holiday Lights” by Yahoo! Travel. This signature community event draws nearly one million viewers to Newport Beach.
We also will continue the benefit for registered boaters by honoring their participation with a commemorative 2016 parade burgee flag and plaque. We plan to have a new pin for boaters every year going forward and will continue the burgee tradition.
Please take a moment to view the Parade Route Map. We have highlighted several locations around the parade route so that visitors will get the best view and find the easiest places to park around town.
The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and Ring of Lights Home Decorating Contest will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, at the tip of Bay Island. It will open with a spectacular firework show launched from the Newport Pier at approximately 6:15 p.m. We are very grateful to the city of Newport Beach for sponsoring this opening night display.
The festivities will run the following four nights at the same time. On the final evening, Sunday night, December 18, there will a spectacular firework show at approximately 9 p.m., launched from the Balboa Pier.
We would also like to thank our presenting sponsors, Simple Green and Meguiar’s, our Community Sponsors, The City of Newport Beach and Visit Newport Beach, Inc. They are spectacular sponsors and good friends of this event!
The planning and preparation for the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and Ring of Lights Home Decorating Contest begins months beforehand. The Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce spends many hours organizing the year parade alongside the thousands of volunteer hours put in by our parade participants.
The time and money boaters spend decorating their boats are significant. They spend five nights navigating the entire parade route and then they have to tackle the take down and clean up. It is a truly monumental task and every single boat deserves to be congratulated.
With a significant positive financial impact on the city, especially to its restaurants, hotels and charters in terms of tourism, hospitality and generating business during the holiday season, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and Ring of Lights Home Decorating Contest continues to be a highlight of the Newport Beach lifestyle.
The Christmas Boat Parade Awards Dinner and Auction is to be held Friday, January 27, 2017, at the beautiful Island Hotel Newport Beach. It’s a fun night of food, wine, dancing and one of the best live and silent auctions of the year in Newport Beach. It is also the night we celebrate all of the winners of the 2015 Boat Parade and Ring of Lights.
